Capgemini supports the United Nations "Caring for Climate" initiative
 
 Capgemini, a member of
the United Nations Global
Compact (UNGC) since
2004, has pledged its
support to the "Caring
for Climate" initiative.
Launched in July 2007 at
the UNGC Leaders Summit,
the project is designed
to advance business
commitments on climate
change in markets around
the world.
   Paul Hermelin, CEO of
Capgemini, is one of 200
 
  
   
 
 
 
 
 
 emissions and work
together with governments
where the Group is
located to develop
climate friendly
policies.
   The UNGC brings
business together with
governments, large
companies, United Nations
agencies, labour and
civil society to advance
10 universal principles
notably in the areas of
human rights, labour,
 
 environment and
anti-corruption.
   "Our support of this
initiative is another
important step in our
commitment to corporate
social responsibility and
sustainable development.
Moreover, it is very much
in line with the actions
we have begun in recent
years to minimise our
environmental impact and
to save energy
expenditure in the
 
 workplace," said
Hermelin.
   Capgemini is one of
the few companies in its
sector to disclose as
much of its carbon
footprint as can be
calculated in both the
annual report and as part
of the Carbon Disclosure
Project (CDP)

TCS subsidiary wins €100m BPO contract
 
 Diligenta, a subsidiary
of Tata Consultancy
Services, has won a
contract to deliver
business process
outsourcing services to
support Sun Life
Financial of Canada UK's
(SLF UK) operations. The
services, expected to
commence in May 2008, are
estimated to be worth
€100m (over $200m) over
the life of the contract.
 
    Diligenta has been
working with SLF UK as
preferred supplier since
October 2007, following a
competitive tender which
came towards the natural
end of SLF UK's existing
outsourcing agreement.
Diligenta will continue
to run the operation in
Basingstoke where SLF
UK's head office is
based.
   "This contract win
 
 adds significantly to
Diligenta's reputation as
a leading player in the
UK Life and Pensions
outsourcing market and is
proof that the TCS
promise of certainty can
be translated in that
market," said Phiroz
Vandrevala, chairman of
Diligenta.

Financial deal, Diligenta
is moving into the second
 
 phase of its history,
expanding its client base
and UK market share and

   Diligenta is the
UK-based, FSA regulated
subsidiary of TCS. Since
2006, it has provided BPO
 
 services for the Pearl
Group under a 12-year,
€486m contract to
consolidate 11 financial
and administrative
systems onto a single

Kline strengthens management consulting capabilities in Europe
 
 Consulting and research
firm Kline & Company has
recruited Luca Raffellini
to further develop and
support the firm's
management consulting
client base located
throughout Europe,
Russia, and the Middle
East.
   Raffellini most
recently was the head of
global marketing for the
Infineum Group, a
joint-venture of
ExxonMobil and Shell
specialising in petroleum
additives. He will be
 
 based in the Oxford, UK
office.
   In his role as
director with Kline
Europe, Raffellini will
lead client service teams
providing chemical and
energy industry clients
with strategy
development, technology
management, and merger
and acquisition support.
   "Luca's expertise in
corporate and business
strategy development for
multinational clients and
on M&A assistance will be
invaluable to our
 
 clients," said Fred du
Plessis, senior vice
president, Kline Europe.
"His commercial industry
and consulting experience
with companies doing
business in polymers,
specialties, and
particularly across the
lubricant industry value
chain complements Kline's
legacy serving these
industry segments."

   Prior to his position
with Infineum, Raffellini
was a senior manager in

London and has held R&D

with EniChem in Italy.
 
    He earned a doctorate
in chemistry from Bologna
University in Italy and
an MBA from Cranfield
University in the United
Kingdom. Raffellini
currently serves on the
Harvard Business Review
Advisory Council, on the
Communication Directors
Business Board, and has
been on the Business
Competition Judging Panel
of Oxford University.
