KPMG ranks among top 10 UK employers for gay and lesbian workers

 Professional services
firm KPMG has been
ranked among the 10 best
employers in the United
Kingdom for gay and
lesbian people in
Stonewall’s Workplace
Equality Index
for
2007.
   KPMG was placed joint

 eighth in the survey,
which compares
employers’ policies and
practices towards gay
and lesbian people.
   Ashley Steel, KPMG
board champion for
sexual orientation,
commented: “I’m
delighted with our

 performance. Last year
we failed to get a
ranking in the Top 100,
so this year’s result is
a real testament to the
firm’s commitment to
creating an inclusive
environment over the
past 12 months. We can’t
be complacent though and

 I am determined to see
progress continue over
the coming year!”
   Colin Cook, KPMG UK’s
CEO commented: “This is
a great result. It sends
an important message to
potential recruits, our
people and our clients
that KPMG is the best

 choice for all,
irrespective of sexual
orientation.”
   KPMG was the only one
of the major accountancy
firms to appear in the
Top 50 of the Equality
Index this year.
