Record recruitment activity as consulting industry thrives

 Top-Consultant.com can
exclusively reveal that
recruitment activity
within the consulting
sector has reached a new
five year high. With
consulting revenues
growing robustly, firms
have been fighting over
the best candidates for
most of the last year.
But with the Big Four
accounting firms ramping
up their consulting
activities, there's now
an added impetus pushing

 up demand for
experienced consulting
hires.
   Job board advertising
activity for the May -
July 2005 period has hit
a five year high on
Top-Consultant, matched
by record candidate
application levels
during the period. The
summer lull is proving
to be something of a
myth, with neither
recruiters nor
candidates showing any

 let-up in their activity
levels.
   "That the
Top-Consultant jobs
board is breaking new
records at the same time
we are running our first
Earl's Court careers
fair demonstrates just
how strong the demand
for candidates has now
become," commented
Top-Consultant Director
Tony Restell. "More than
40 firms and 300
recruiters are now

 attending the October
event and the fear was
that firms might have
switched their budgets
from the job board to
the careers fair. In
practice consulting
firms are eager to do
everything they can to
reach quality candidates
and the careers fair has
had no impact on the
jobs board figures,
which are now stronger
than ever."
   The average firm now

 needs to hire
fee-earning staff
amounting to a third of
their headcount each
year, just to counter
staff attrition and meet
growing client demand.
The re-emergence of the
Big Four as consulting
suppliers sees this
trend continue into 2006
and beyond.

Top-Consultant.com bought by DMGT

 Associated New Ventures
(ANV), a division of
Associated Newspapers
Ltd (DMGT) announced on
Thursday (25/8) the
acquisition of both
Zambeasy Ltd, the owner
of Top-Consultant.com
and Office Recruit Ltd.
the owner of
officerecruit.co.uk. In
a deal worth £4.1m, the
two companies will join
Jobsite, an online
recruitment site, as
part of ANV’s growing
portfolio of recruitment
sites.
   The move follows the
acquisition of Jobsite
by DMGT in March 2004
for £35m and is a part
of a larger strategy by
the company to target

 new markets, and in the
long term, significantly
extend site reach,
capabilities and
footprint across Europe.
Under the new agreement,
Top Consultant and
Office Recruit will
retain their brand names
and strengthen the DMGT
portfolio with an aim to
provide a more
specialised service for
job hunters and
recruiters.
   Top-Consultant, the
number one UK
recruitment site for
management consultants,
was bought for £2.25m.
The management team, led
by Paul Chantry and Tony
Restell, will continue
to run the business as a

 separate operation.
   In a separate deal,
Office Recruit Ltd, the
owner of
Officerecruit.co.uk and
leading recruitment
portal of the growing
commercial sector was
acquired for £1.85m. As
with Top Consultant, the
Office Recruit
management team led by
Jim Ryan and Lucien
Sullivan will also run
as a stand-alone
business.
   Both acquisitions
follow the recent launch
by Jobsite of three new
niche sites for the
pharmaceutical
(emedcareers.co.uk),
secretarial
(secrecruit.co.uk) and

 for jobs in Scotland
(scotrecruit) part of
Jobsite’s strategy to
provide candidates and
recruiters an expanded
option of vacancies to
choose from.
   Andrew Hart, managing
director, ANV,
commented: “In the last
year Jobsite has gone
from strength to
strength and it was our
aim to find related
profitable companies to
sit within Jobsite as
part of an expanding
jobs division. Top
Consultant and Office
Recruit both present us
with unique
opportunities to realise
this goal. We have
watched both companies

 and have been impressed
by their management
teams and site
potential.”
   Keith Potts, Managing
Director of Jobsite
said: “This acquisition
fits into our overall
strategy to increase
market share by further
benefiting candidates
and recruiters. Top
Consultant and Office
Recruit are both
reputable brands with
impressive services
which can only make our
overall online
recruitment offering
stronger and further
reinforce our leadership
in the market.”
