Moorhouse star is finalist for young project manager award

 One of Moorhouse
Consulting’s up and
coming project
management stars has
been short-listed for
the Association of
Project Management’s
‘Young Project Manager
of the Year’ award – for
the third year running.

   This year’s nominee
is 26 year old Chris
Barnes, who has worked
at the project and
programme advisory firm
for almost eighteen
months. Barnes possesses
an imposing CV that
includes a 1st class
degree in Economics,
experience working with
a Big Four consulting
firm plus outstanding
contributions to client
projects such as a £17M
programme for the UK
Highways Agency.

   His recent work with
Moorhouse, which
includes establishing a
project and programme
management (PPM) ‘Centre
of Excellence’ for BT,

 tasked with improving
the delivery performance
and efficiency of the
organisation’s top 20
business critical
programmes, also
impressed the APM
judging panel.

   Managing director Dom
Moorhouse said he was
delighted that Barnes’
achievements had been
recognised by the
industry’s leading
industry body. Moorhouse
said: “2009 is proving
to be another great year
for Moorhouse - aside
from firm recognition,
it is really gratifying
to see individuals
within the team being
recognised for their
client work and
commitment.”

   “Chris will be flying
the flag in October, not
only for Moorhouse, but
for the growing cohort
of talented and
ambitious young project
managers in the UK. I
wish him the best of

 luck for the awards
ceremony, and hope to be
among the group of
colleagues and clients
supporting him on the
night.”

   Proud nominee Barnes
said: “It is a real
honour to be
short-listed for the
Young Project Management
of the Year award. I am
still at an early stage
in my career and
consider myself
privileged to have been
offered some great
career opportunities at
Moorhouse, such as
working on leading
transformation
programmes with clients
like BT and Nuclear
Decommissioning
Authority, plus the
opportunity to learn
continuously from the
experienced and seasoned
colleagues I have around
me. I hope I can do them
proud on the night!”
