Steria names Mark Cook UK chief operating officer
 
 Steria, the European IT
and business services
company, has appointed
Mark Cook as UK chief
operating officer.
Reporting directly to UK
CEO John Torrie, Cook
will have full
responsibility for the
commercial performance
of the UK business
units, focusing on
 
 increasing sales and
delivery accountability.
  
   In his new position,
Cook will be working
with a team of 150 sales
executives to develop
sales growth, improve
operating principles and
ensure continued
excellence in customer
service. He will be
 
 directly responsible for
the delivery of IT and
BPO services, utilising
10,000 people across the
UK and India.
  
   Cook joined Xansa in
1997 and became part of
the Steria UK team
following the former's
acquisition in 2007. He
previously held the
 
 position of managing
director for the
commercial sector, where
he was responsible for a
€300m business unit with
2,000 employees in UK
and India, covering IT
and BPO contracts across
the retail, utilities,
logistics and media
sectors. He has worked
on projects for several
 
 high profile brands
including the BBC and
Alliance Boots and,
prior to joining Xansa,
worked in senior
management for
international businesses
including Raychem and
Texaco.
 
 
MCA launches economic and business advisory group
 
 The Management
Consultancies
Association (MCA) has
announced a new member
initiative, the Economy
and Business Advisory
Group. The announcement
is part of the
Association’s Dealing
with the Downturn

campaign, which will
highlight the action
that organisations and
companies need to take
as they face the most
 
 difficult economic
circumstances in at
least a generation.
  
   Hugo Were, president
of the MCA and a member
of the new Group, said:
