Value Partners and Spectrum Strategy Consultants merge for growth

 Value Partners, the
management and IT
consulting group
headquartered in Milan,
is to merge with leading
media and telecoms
consultancy Spectrum
Strategy Consultants.
The merger is designed
to enhance the presence
of both companies across
three continents,
focusing on key growth
markets such as London,
Hong Kong, Singapore,
Shanghai, Sydney, New
Delhi, and Mumbai. The
deal will also allow
Spectrum to expand the
range of consulting
services it offers to
its clients, utilising
the range of sector
expertise within Value
Partners.
   Mike Grabiner, the
chairman of Spectrum,
said that “this merger
will enable Spectrum to
further exploit its
already rapid
international growth,
especially in the Asia
Pacific region where the
business is growing
exponentially. We are

 impressed by Value
Partners’ track record
of growth, averaging at
25% per year, and by its
successful entry in new
geographies.”
   Established in London
in 1994, Spectrum is
internationally renowned
for its expertise in the
convergence industries
of telecommunications,
media and technology.
Spectrum’s experience
spans Fixed and Mobile
Telecommunications,
Publishing,
Broadcasting, Digital
Media, Entertainment and
Sports around the world.
   Lord Puttnam, its
original chairman, and
now non-executive
director, is delighted
by the fact that “the
combined entity offers a
creative force able to
give valuable support to
those companies around
the world who are facing
the increasing challenge
of shifting revenues and
rapidly changing
technologies in this new
digital ecosystem.
Spectrum and Value

 Partners professionals
share the same passion
for excellence in
professional work.” He
added: "The two
companies are highly
complementary in terms
of geographic footprint
and service offering and
have a very similar
culture. Spectrum and
Value Partners together
can build a very strong
business in all high
growth regions of the
world, while reinforcing
their position in their
European home market."
   Spectrum’s
wide-ranging client
portfolio includes large
media entities such as
the BBC, NBC and
Discovery; many of
Europe’s top football
clubs, sports leagues
and federations, such as
UEFA; large
international private
equity funds such as
Apax and KKR; many major
telecoms authorities in
Europe and Asia; as well
as the world’s largest
telecoms operators and
vendors such as SingTel,

 Vodafone, NTT Docomo,
France Telecom, Nokia
and Siemens.
   Value Partners,
founded in 1993, has
grown from 15 people to
3,000 people, divided
into two sister
companies: Value
Partners Management
Consulting and Value
Team IT Consulting and
Solutions. With global
hubs in Europe, Latin
America, China and India
the business returned
2006 revenues in excess
of € 370m. Value
Partners Management
Consulting provides a
wide range of services
ranging across strategy,
change management and
performance improvement.
Value Team IT
Consulting’s telecoms
expertise includes CRM,
billing, OSS,
outsourcing and SI
solutions. Value
Partners and Spectrum
will operate with their
own brands.
   Yang Soon Lee, joint
MD of Spectrum Asia
Pacific with Justin

 Jameson, said: “The
merger will create
significant synergies
for the group across
Asia. The addition of
the Value Partner and
Value Team businesses
will enable Spectrum to
offer a complete suite
of strategy, operations
and technology
consulting to our
clients. Together, we
will operate across six
offices and we will have
25 staff in China
alone.”
   Ruggero Jenna, the
managing partner of
Value Partners' Shanghai
office, commented:
“Following the merger we
will be well placed to
help Spectrum’s clients
in London, SE Asia and
Australia to plan and
execute their China and
India entry strategies.
We will also
significantly expand our
media and telecoms
business in China.”
