Infosys to hire students from US and European universities
 
  
   
 
 
 
 2005-06, Infosys doubled
the percentage of
non-Indian employees,
hiring more than 25
different nationalities.
   In the first phase,
Infosys'
university-level
recruiting programme in
the US will bring more
than 100 American
college graduates to
India in August 2006.
The new employees hired
will develop their
 
 engineering skills at
Infosys development
centres across India for
six months before
returning to Infosys
offices in the United
States. This is the
first global recruiting
initiative of its size
to bring foreign talent
to India.
   The new hires will
participate in a
customised education
programme for four
 
 months, after which the
American trainees will
be relocated to
development centres
throughout India for
another two months
before returning to
various Infosys
locations in the United
States. Along the same
lines, a pilot programme
will take place to
recruit students from
universities in the
United Kingdom.
 
    In another
initiative, Infosys
Technologies is
recruiting 30 interns
from 17 leading
technology and business
schools across Europe,
as part of its global
internship programme,
InStep.
  
  
 
 Infosys Technologies
plans to recruit 300
college graduates from
universities in the
United States this year
and 25 graduates from
the United Kingdom in
2007 as part of an
ongoing commitment to
create a diversified,
global workforce. In
 
 
KPMG UK names new chief executive
 
 KPMG LLP (UK) has named
Colin Cook as its new
chief executive officer.
He will succeed John
Griffith-Jones who
becomes KPMG's UK senior
partner on 1 October,
2006.
 
    Cook has wide
experience of the
capital markets,
transactions and
business and financial
advisory work, both in
the UK and globally. He
has been involved in
 
 many of the largest
public deals over the
last 15 years, including
the merger of
AstraZeneca and the
Vodafone-Mannesmann and
RBS-NatWest takeovers.
   He qualified as a
 
 chartered accountant in
1979 and joined KPMG in
1980, becoming a partner
in 1990. He was European
head of KPMG's
Transaction Services
practice from 1998 until
2004, when he was
 
 appointed CEO of KPMG's
UK Tax and People
Services practice.
  
 
 
James Wood returns to MWN as associate director
 
 James Wood has returned
to Michael Warwick
Nicholls, a niche
recruitment consultancy,
as associate director
within its management
consultancy
(recruitment) division.
 
    After a successful
three-year stint with
the firm, Wood took a
sabbatical in 2005,
spending six months in
Latin America, before
completing a 'round the
world' trip through
 
 America, New Zealand,
Australia and S.E. Asia.
   In his new role, Wood
has specific
responsibilities: to
assist MWN's recruiters
source more quality
candidates, grow the
 
 firm’s client portfolio,
and to grow the MWN
brand. He originally
joined MWN in 2002,
where he recruited
within 'Industry and
Commerce' before helping
to build up the existing
 
 management consultancy

BearingPoint makes key UK and German appointments
 
  
   
 
 
 
 
 
 BearingPoint has
appointed Stephen
Kingsley as lead for the
firm's London-based
 
 financial services
practice. At the same
time, BearingPoint is
further boosting its
 
 wider Financial Services
practice in EMEA with
the appointment of
Christoph Petznik as
 
 managing director to
