Management consultants raise £21K for charity

 A group of management
consultants from the
award-winning programme
and project management
firm Moorhouse
Consulting has raised
over £21,000 for
charity, with a
sponsored 'Bike Run'
from Scotland to London
in just 48 hours.
   The 30 staff, who
left Gretna on Friday
4th July, battled
through the
unpredictable summer
elements - including
heavy rain, high winds
and some sunshine - to
travel back to their
base in London via
Oxenholme, Huddersfield,

 Loughborough, and
Leighton Buzzard. The
effort raised funds for
Great Ormond Street
Hospital Children's
Charity (GOSHCC),
Sustainable Futures in
Africa and The
Alzheimer's Society.
   Divided into three
teams of five pairs,
each pair spent roughly
nine hours in action for
one hour at a time, with
one person cycling and
the other running.
   The group smashed
their previous
fundraising target of
£18K and arrived, tired
yet victorious, at Great
Ormond Street Hospital,

 London on Sunday 6th
July. Team Ndejje -
named after a town in
Uganda where some of the
funds raised will help
build a new school -
came in first at 11am.
Team captain Tom Elvidge
said they were thrilled
with their achievement.
   "There was a
fantastic team spirit
out on the road, with
the three teams geeing
each other along, and we
had a lot of fun along
the way. The weather
tried its best to put us
off course but we
battled through to the
end and are thrilled to
raise this amount of

 money for three great
charities."
   Managing director Dom
Moorhouse said that
after travelling from
London to Cornwall in
last year's event, the
team were determined to
raise the bar in 2008.
   He added: "It was a
tough physical challenge
involving over 50
participants and a
traverse of the length
of this country. The
team did a great job
both in the meticulous
planning of the venture
and its successful
execution. The event is
now becoming somewhat of
a firm tradition and

 certainly one that
brings out the best in
our collective talents.
   "Most importantly,
however, it delivered
for our chosen charities
and we are tremendously
grateful to all of our
clients, friends and
family for giving so
generously. On the
finish line, I had a
'never again' moment but
now the legs are
recovering, thoughts are
already turning to the
design of next year's
event!"

Ernst & Young powers up its partnership in utilities and renewable

 Ernst & Young has
announced the admission
of two new partners to
its utilities and
renewable energy teams
in the UK with immediate
effect.
   Tony Ward has been
made a partner in the
power and utilities
team. Based in
Birmingham, Ward has
been with Ernst & Young
since 2002 and has over
14 years’ experience of
working with the power
generation and utility
sector, including the
audit of the UK's
Electricity Trading

 a director, has been
made a partner in the
renewable energy and
environmental
infrastructure group -
leading the London-based
renewable energy team.
He has been with the
firm for over a decade
advising clients on
renewable energy
infrastructure
financing, M&A and
investor due diligence.
Warren's experience
includes onshore and
offshore wind, biomass,
renewable heat and
biofuels, as well as
energy recovery from

 waste.
   E&Y said the total
number of partners
dedicated to the power
and utilities sector has
grown significantly in
the last year. Steve
Jennings, market leader
for power and utilities
at Ernst & Young,
attributes this growth
to "the increasing
challenges faced by the
industry of delivering
both renewal and
expansion of the energy
infrastructure, at the
same time as minimising
emissions, maintaining
secure and reliable

 supplies and ensuring
cost-efficiency for the
end consumer".
   He added: "I am
delighted that these two
talented individuals
have chosen to join the
partnership. We are
focused on increasing
our UK presence in the
marketplace, with a
particular focus on
alternative energy,
transactions and
regulation and policy.
And we are committed to
recruiting and retaining
outstanding people -
Tony and Ben will make a
real difference to our

 arrangements and two
years with one of the
UK's nuclear generators.
He is responsible for UK
and international
sell-side and buy-side
transactions in the
sector and provides
policy and strategic
advice to government. He
recently advised the UK
Government's Energy
Review with particular
regard to new nuclear
build.
