Xansa ready to increase profitability

 Xansa reported a sharp
jump in profits as it
secured additional
contracts and was able
to increase profit
margins by shifting more
work to its Indian
locations. CEO Alistair
Cox said the company had
reached a "tipping
point" in its three-year
strategy to improve
profitability by moving
work to lower cost

 centres in India.
   The group, which has
moved around 40% of its
workforce to India, said
pre-tax profit increased
to £7.8m (11.5m euros)
in the six months ended
31 October from £6.7m
(9.85m euros) a year
earlier.
   The lower cost of the
work meant its revenues
decreased by 7.2%
year-on-year to £175.9m

 (259m euros), but this
was more than offset by
improved margins, which
grew from 5.6% to 7.2%.
   Xansa, which had
margins as low as 4%
two-and-a-half years
ago, said it was
confident of reaching
double-digit margins by
2009.
   Cox says he expects
revenues to show upward
movement in the second

half of the year as a
large increase in
government work would
help offset price
declines, although he
wouldn't expect anything
above low-to-mid single
digits year-on-year.
   Half of Xansa's
workforce is in the UK
and half in India. Cox
said the company would
have about 60% of its
workers offshore in 18

 months' time, noting
that the company's
Indian arm was becoming
"increasingly important"
to potential clients.
   The forward order
book was little changed
from last year at £450m,
but Cox added that
forward orders would
begin to improve in the
second half.

take a first step toward

will give Bouygues

guaranteeing better

 continuity between the
contact centre and

maximum return on
investment.
   Atos Origin was
entrusted to deliver
consulting, design and
integration services for
the entire solution,

 applications.
   Under the terms of
the contract signed in
July 2005 for an
18-month term, some 30
voice applications,
including 630 at
Bouygues Telecom that
deliver
consumption-related
information and enable
prepaid reloads, will
gradually be migrated to
the new platform.
