Atos names ex-French finance minister Breton CEO

 Former French finance
minister Thierry Breton
has returned to
corporate life as chief
executive of Atos
Origin, abruptly
replacing Philippe
Germond in what the
media has called a
boardroom coup. The
supervisory board
members decided
unanimously to appoint
Breton as CEO and
chairman of the
management board of Atos
Origin to replace

 Germond, who leaves the
Group.

   The supervisory board
thanked Germond for his
contribution as the head
of Atos Origin, in
making the organisation
evolve and returning it
to growth.

   The Financial Times
and French business
daily Les Echos reported
that the surprise
appointment came in a
boardroom manoeuvre –

of Bull group from 1993
to 1996, CEO of Thomson
group from 1997 to 2002,
and CEO of France
Telecom from 2002 to
2005. He was Minister of
Economy and Finance in
France from February
2005 to May 2007.

   Atos said it has
appointed him in order
to accelerate the
roll-out of its
transformation plan,

 refocus on key
businesses and reinforce
its market share. At
its next annual general
meeting, the company
will seek to transform
itself into a “Société
Anonyme” with a “Conseil
d’Administration”,
instead of the current
supervisory and
management boards.
Breton will be proposed
as CEO of Atos Origin
under the new legal
structure.

2008 Consultancy Careers Fair yields job offers for lucky visitors

 The 2008 Consultancy
Careers Fair, an event
organised annually by
Top-Consultant.com, was
held on 9 - 10 October
at the Barbican Centre
in London. Despite the
difficult economic
climate, the fair was
very successful,
attracting more
candidates than last
year.

   Some lucky visitors
have subsequently been
hired by firms
exhibiting at the event,
according to Bryan
Hickson,
Top-Consultant.com’s

 managing director. “We
know of one case where a
candidate was made a job
offer on the day of the
fair. And exhibitors are
now coming back and
telling us of other
visitors to the fair
that have subsequently
been hired.”

   “The Careers Fair was
only one month ago, so
we're pretty staggered
to hear of this hiring
news already and are
eagerly anticipating
more good news over the
coming months,” he
added.
