KPMG hits £1m milestone for Help the Hospices

 KPMG has hit its £1m
fundraising target for
its staff charity, Help
the Hospices, the
hospice movement's
national charity. It has
taken just 22 months to
reach this landmark,
with numerous innovative
activities taking place
across the firm's 22 UK
offices to raise money
for Help the Hospices.
   Initially a one-year
programme, last year
KPMG staff voted for the
first time to keep Help
the Hospices as its UK
staff charity for

 local communities - more
than 250 of its people
have been volunteering
their time to Help the
Hospices and local
hospices; from hands on
activities including
gardening and painting
to longer term pieces of
pro bono work, and new
initiatives such as its
'green audit' programme
specifically designed to
address energy use in
each hospice and to find
ways to help reduce the
hospices' carbon
footprint and reduce
their energy

 consumption. To date,
across 28 hospice
audits, annual energy
savings of a projected
£100,000 and 500 tonnes
of carbon have been
identified.
   Over the last year,
many KPMG employees have
donated a slice of their
hard-earned cash to the
cause and held a variety
of fundraising events
across the country to
raise money for hospice
care.
   During the first year
of the partnership KPMG
in the UK raised over

 £500,000 for Help the
Hospices.
   At the beginning of
the year KPMG announced
an innovative agreement
with American Express
under which a proportion
of the value of every
business transaction on
the corporate American
Express card will go to
Help the Hospices.
