head of SAP's Emerging

services. Amabel Grant,
who joins the firm from
the Office of Government
Commerce, will be a
senior consultant.

    Hawdon has more than
12 years’ experience of
management consultancy.
After 12 years as an Air
Engineer with the Royal
Navy, he began his
consultancy career at
PwC, joining the
Auckland team in 1994.
In 1996, he moved to
Singapore and in 1999 he

 was appointed partner at
the firm.
   Grant is a project
management professional

experience of project,
contract and business
management. She joins
Hedra from the Office of
Government Commerce
(OGC), where she was

undertook the initial

 solution during the

parallel to Zanzibar,
Grant's remit at OGC
included developing

Consultants' Forum
Salary/tax question for all consultants please

 "As someone outside the
industry, I've heard
that the nature of a
management consultant's
skill is to help improve
clients' profits, etc. I

 presume this involves
finding smart ways to
pay less tax. Does this
mean that most
management consultants
use the same techniques

 to cleverly avoid high
tax on their own
salaries? I hope it
does. I'm thinking of
joining the industry but
am put off if it means

 paying half of my
potentially lucrative
salary to the tax guy.
Any thoughts on how much
tax an mc pays on a
salary of £70K?

    Cheers all!"
   Douglas.
